Balloon Vine is also known as Love-In-A-Puff, Heartseed and Paper Lantern.

The plant is an annual, partially woody vine. Its preferred habitat is roadsides, depressions and the margin of ponds, lakes and swamps. Distribution is throughout the Escambia region.

The leaves are in clusters of three (bi-ternately compound), with individual leaf segments being lance-like and toothed.

Flowers are on short stalks and in clusters in the leaf axil; irregular in shape; four sepals; four petals; white to bluish-white. Flowers occur in the summer.

Fruit is a capsule.
