The forewing is grayish-brown, with whitish tint in females. The tint is often missing in males. There will be a blackish-brown apical dash and a large dark patch from the base through the median area (does not touch the inner margin). The dark patch usually has white outer edging. The hindwing is grayish-brown. The caterpillar host plant is maples. |
