Identification Covell, Moths of Eastern North America, Page 41. The forewing is dark greenish-brown with sharp whitish bands and streaks. This moth is similar to the Vine Sphinx, but there will be a pronounced brownish band along the costa and darker lower basal area. The hindwing has a pink border along most of the outer margin as well as at the anal angle. The caterpillar host plants are primrose-willow and other evening primroses.
