Polygalaceae (Milkwort) Family

Plant is an upright, hairy perennial. Preferred habitat is rich woods, edge of pine woods and savannas. Distribution is throughout the Escambia region except directly at seashore.

Leaves are alternate on the stem; broadly lance-like; sharp pointed and base is
wedge-shaped.

Flowers are in a raceme at the top of the flowering stem; short stalks; white and pea-like in form; bisexual; irregular shape; three sepals. Flowers occur in the spring and summer.

Fruit is a capsule.
