Plant is an upright, smooth annual. Preferred habitat is savannas, vegetated dunes, fields and mixed woods Distribution is throughout the Escambia region.
Leaves are alternate on the stem; no teeth and no lobes; no leaf stalk; linear and consisting of one whole part.
Flowers are in a terminal raceme; bisexual; divided into two parts each the image of the other; five pink sepals. Corolla is pink to red, fringed; eight stamens. Flowers occur in the summer.
Fruit is a capsule.
