Plant is a climbing vine with nearly four-angled stems. Preferred habitat is fence rows, thickets and dense woods. Distribution is throughout the Escambia region.
Leaves are opposite; whole in part with leaf stalks; oval to nearly triangular; no teeth and no lobes; tapering and pinched forming an angle to the left. Leaf base is heart shaped and attached to stem between leaf lobes.
Flowers are in flat-topped clusters at the end of stalks; bisexual; symmetrical. Disc flowers are numerous; white or purple; no ray flowers (petals). Flowering occurs in late spring but is more prolific in the summer.
Fruit is achene.
