Identification: Covell, Moths of Eastern North America, Page 322. This moth is very similar to the American Idia but drabber and more uniformly dark grayish-brown. The lines are grayish-brown and black, but thinner, especially at the costa. The reniform spot is yellow and conspicuous (wider and blackish in Appalachian specimens). The caterpillar host plants are dead leaves on the forest floor.
