Identification: Covell, Moths of Eastern North America, Page 160. The forewing is orangish-brown to purplish-gray. One color often blends into the other. There will be a thin brown post-median line bordered by white on both sides, curving from the apex to midpoint of the outer margin. Other markings are indistinct. The hindwing is yellowish with variable dark shading. The caterpillar host plants are greenbriars.
