Hypagyrtis esther (Barnes) Geometridae Hodges 6655 Identification: Covell, Moths of Eastern North America, Page 357. The moth is similar to the darker forms of One-spotted Variant, but the wings are evenly violet-gray; not mottled, reddish-brown beyond the post-median line. The sub-terminal spot is usually a clearcut oval if present. Melanics are chocolate in color. The caterpillar host plants are pines. |
