Identification: Covell, Moths of Eastern North America, Page 91. The forewing is smoky gray or reddish-brown (variable). The ante-median and post-median lines a formed of tiny black and white dots. The reniform spot is yellowish, edged with blackish, and surrounded by dark gray scaling. The terminal line is black patches along the costa, at the top of other lines. The hindwing is dirty whitish with grayish brown shading and a faint median line of dark dots. The caterpillar host plant is numerous low growth.
