Identification: (Covell, Moths of Eastern North America, Pg. 330) There will be a thumb-like black tuft midway along the inner margin of the forewing. The forewing is yellowish with gray overlay and black streaks. The ante-median and post-median lines are white and broken. The hindwing is white in males and gray in females. Caterpillar host plants are oaks of all varieties.
