Gill-less Chanterelle
Cantharellus lateritius
Cantharellaceae (Chanterelle) Mushroom Family
.

The Gill-less Chanterelle is identified by its orange cap, which turns yellow-orange with age. The underside of the cap is pale buff, smooth or slightly ridged. The lack of gills is usually the deciding factor. Stem color is the same as its cap.  Spores are pale pink-orange. The preferred habitat of Gill-less Chanterelle is open woods under broad-leaved trees or at the margin of bogs and marsh areas.
