Identification Covell, Moths of Eastern North America, Page 155. The forewing is mostly deep gold, with brownish lines and shading. The stigma is small and filled with gold (the tiny silver mark in the median area is characteristic of the looper moths). The second silver spot is farther out in some specimen. The underwings are grayish-brown, appears white. The caterpillar host plants are arrowhead, curled dock, tobacco, and other low plants.
