Identification Covell, Moths of Eastern North America, Page 319. The wings are drab, blackish-brown. The pattern ranges from sharp to uniformly dull. The forewing is narrow and the hindwing is broad. The post-median line is slightly wavy with a small but conspicuous outward bulge near the wing margin (costa). The caterpillar host plants are alfalfa, clover, beans, and strawberry.
