Grisette Mushroom
Amanita vaginata
Amanitaceae (Amanitas) Mushroom Family

Identify the Grisette by its smooth, silky and pleated, smoky gray cap. The gills are free from the stem, also gray (almost white). The stem is white or gray, sometimes with rings of flat hairs. There is no visible collar on the stem. The slightly bulbous base rests in a shoe-like cup. Its preferred habitat is any woods, lawns and meadows.
