Identification: Covell, Moths of Eastern North America, Page 363. The outer margin are scalloped. The post-median line is sharply defined.. The border between the dark median line and the lighter sub-terminal areas mark the Pero species. Males are usually blackish gray and females are brown with no mottling and little straition. The markings are black. The caterpillar host plants are black locust, larch and wild cherry.
