Horse Mushroom
Agaricus arvensis
Horse Mushroom is characterized by its large cap; 2.5 - 8 inches wide with a stem of equal height. The cap is white or cream (bruises yellow), sometimes with a yellow center or fringed edge. The gills are free, white in color, turning black-brown in age. The stem is white with a cottony collar. There may also be cottony patches on the underside of the cap. Its preferred habitat is grassy areas in yards and meadows.
