Identification (Covell, Moths of Eastern North America, Pg 45): A large moth with yellow wings, variably spotted and shaded with pinkish, orange, or purplish-brown. The males are smaller and more heavily marked than females. Caterpillar host plants are sweet gum, sassafras, maple, elder, and oak.
