Kudzu

Kudzy is a trailing and climbing herbaceous vine. Its preferred habitat is roadsides and woods. Distribution is throughout the Escambia region.

The leaves are alternate on the stem, trifoliate (three), with leaflets being ovate to nearly round, and may be nearly round or lobed.

The flowers are a panicle that arises from the leaf axil. The calyx is 5-lobed, five petals, light to dark purple. The odor is pleasant with a scent of grape.

Fruit is a legume.

Kudzu is a native of China.
