Identification: Covell, Moths of Eastern North America, Page 68. The wings are white with hollow bluish-black spots on the forewing. Black shading is seen along the inner margin and terminal spots are near the apex of the hindwings. The wings tend to become translucent towards the outer margins with wear. The caterpillar host plants are banana, cabbage, cherry, dandelion, orange, sunflowers, violets, and willow.
