Identification (Covell, Moths of Eastern North America, Pg. 49): The wings are pale green. The hindwing is drawn out to a long, sweeping tail. There will be transparent spots on each wing. The pink or reddish-brown outer margin indicates the moth is from a spring brood of the southern specimens. Caterpillar host plants are alder, beech, hickory, pecan, sweet gum, and willow.
