Identification: Covell, Moths of Eastern North America, Page 349. The forewing is powdery reddish-brown to gray, usually with a warm brown sub-terminal band, often visible only toward the costa. The lines are usually obscure, except at tops as dark brown costal spots. The post-median line continues as median line across the paler hindwing. Caterpillar host plants are red and white pine.
