Amanitas Mushroom Family
Musk Amanita is also known as Fly Agaric due to its musky, unpleasant odor. To identify it look for a yellow to orange cap (rarely white) with scattered white warts unless recent rain has rinsed it clean. The cap is usually 2- to 3 inches broad but has been recorded up to 7 inches. The stem is slender and white, turning yellow or orange above the collar. The base is bulbous and underground. Its preferred habitat is woods or under single trees, usually pine or oak.
