Oblique Zale is similar to the Gray-Banded Zale except it is much smaller and the pattern is less contrasting. There is no bluish-gray band. The wings are dark brownish gray with broad bands between the ante-median and median lines. The reniform spot is barely visible. The caterpillar host plant any member of the pine group. This moth is very uncommon in the Escambia region.
