There are two species of wood nymph; Beautiful and Pearly (above). The two species can easily be distinguished by the dark band along the outer margin of the forewing. Eudryas unio (Pearly) has a band that is scalloped on the inside, whereas the band is smoothly curved on Eudryas grata (Beautiful). The caterpillar host plants are Evening Primrose, grapes, hibiscus, and willow-herbs.
