Identification: Corvell, Moths of Eastern North America, Page 128. Similar to Cattail Borer, but narrow, oblique reniform spot partly filled with orange. The wings are reddish brown with pinkish highlights. The lines and median shade is darker than ground color. Wingspan is 3.5 to 5 cm. The caterpillar host plant is cattail, pickerelweed, and water hyacinth.
