Pine Mushroom is identified by its exceptionally large cap, 2-8 inches broad. The cap is white when young but turns greenish or brown with age. The edge becomes streaked with flat brown hairs. The gills are white and partially attached to the stem. The stem is white above and brown below the ruffle-like collar. Spores are white. Its preferred habitat is pine forests.
