Identification Covell, Moths of Eastern North America, Pg. 36. The forewing is gray, with two sharp black dashes in the median area. Lines are very diffuse and inconspicuous. The sub-terminal line is blackish; zig-zag. The forewing fringe is checkered black and white. The hindwing is uniform gray, usually paler than the forewing. Caterpillar host plants are pines, especially loblolly and longleaf.
