Identification: Covell, Moths of Eastern North America, Page 31 -- This is the only sphinx moth in the Escambia region with pink crossbars on the abdomen. The hindwing is gray with black bands and variable pink shading toward the base. Caterpillar host plants are paw-paw, jimsonweed and sweet potato.
