Identification: Covell, Moths of Eastern North America, Pg. 84. The forewing is white, dusted and mottled with pale gray (melanics are slate gray). The post-median line has a conspicuous white border. The basal dash is heavy toward the outer end; small anal, subapical, and orbicular-reniform dashes also present. The orbicular spot is filled with white. Caterpillar host plant is hickory.
