Polyphemus Moth Caterpillar 11-20-07


Identification (Covell, Moths of Eastern North America, Pg 49): The forewing is reddish to yellowish-brown with pink-edged white ante-median and black post-median lines. There will be oval transparent spots on the forewing and the broader hindwing spots are ringed with yellow, blue and black (like large eyes). The caterpillar host plants are oak, maple, birch, pine, and members of the rose family.
