Identification Oplar, USGS, Butterflies of Alabama, a web site. The wing span is 7/8 - 1 1/4 inches (2.2 - 3.2 cm). There will be two tails on the hindwing; upperside brown, hindwing blue. The underside is gray-brown with white post-median line edged with red-orange. Caterpillar host plants are wax myrtle, sumac, and several oaks.
