Identification: Covell, Moths of Eastern North America, Page 66. The head and thorax is white. The abdomen is orange-yellow with black spots. The tip of the abdomen is white in females. The forewing is white with black spots that represent bits of lines (some individuals have no spots). The hindwing is dark orange-yellow in males, white in females, with 3 or 4 black blotches. The caterpillar host plants are a wide variety including apple, cabbage, clover, corn, cotton, peas, potato, and tobacco.
