Identification Covell, Moths of Eastern North America, Page 155. The forewing is grayish-brown, less mottled and glossier than Cabbage Looper Moth. The bar-like stigma is nearly straight, tan, with silver edges and pointed bottom end. The hindwing is grayish-brown, darker toward the outer margin. The caterpillar host plants are asters, goldenrod, horseweed, and tobacco.
