Plant is an upright, branching perennial. Preferred habitat is moist pinelands, bogs and savannas. Distribution is coastal in the Escambia region.
Leaves are opposite on the stem; consisting of one whole part; no leaf stalk; widest at the middle to lance-like; no teeth and no lobes.
Flowers are in a terminal cluster. The calyx is lobed; the corolla is rotate (like a wheel); five-parted and white. Flowers occur in early summer.
Fruit is a capsule.
