Identification: Covell, A Field Guide to Moths of Eastern North America, Page 37, Plate 6. The forewing is dark brown. The hindwing is yellow. The outer margin of the forewing is doubly indented. Caterpillar host plants are Birch, Hawthorn, Poplar and Willow. Common throughout the area during periods May to September.
