Identification: Covell, Moths of Eastern North America, Page 161. Smaller than the Large Nicklace Moth and the forewing is dark brown with variable violet gray tinting. Look for 3 or 4 white spots extending in a curved line from the inner margin. The antennae is simple. The hindwing is paler brown than the forewing. The caterpillar host plants are persimmon and sassafras.
