Plant is an upright to sprawling, hairy perennial. Preferred habitat is roadsides, woods and prairies. Distribution is throughout the Escambia region.

Leaves are alternate on the stem; trifoliate, with leaflets ovate to oblong.

Flowers are axillary or terminal receme; bisexual in nature and symmetrical in form. Five petals, yellow; stamens in two series, one a cluster of nine and the other having one. Flowers occur in the spring and summer.

Fruit is a bean pod (legume).
