Spitting Spider
Scytodes thoracica

The 'Spitting Spider' got its unusual name as a result of its feeding habits. The spider is slow-moving and in order to catch its prey, the target is first sprayed with a glue-like substance. The unsuspecting insect 'sticks' in place for a few seconds. The spider can now deliver the Draconian bite that will ensure its next meal. The Spitting Spider is harmless to humans. The color of the spider depends on its location -- yellowish-orange, brown or dark gray.
