Plant is an upright, smooth annual. Preferred habitat is salt and brackish marshes and depressions. Distribution is coastal in the Escambia region.
Leaves are opposite on the stem; no teeth and no lobes; lance-like and widest at the middle; or linear to filiform.
Flowers are at the end of the flowering stem; or may be in the leaf axil; usually single but sometimes clustered. Calyx is lobed; corolla is rotate (like a wheel) and in five parts. Color is pink with yellow at the base bordered by a red line that is bordered by white. Flowers occur in the summer.
Fruit is a capsule.
