Identification: Covell, Moths of Eastern North America,
Page 51: The moth is usually slightly larger than the Proimethea
Moth. The male wings are dark brown, not blackish. The post-median
line is whitish. The terminal area and reinform spots are distinct.
The female wings are yellowish to orangish-brown, with no reddish
tint. The forewing reniform spot is usually large. The caterpillar
host plants are tulip tree and sassafras. The moths have also
been reared on black cherry.
