Identification: Covell Moths of Eastern North America, Pg. 163: Extremely variable. Wings are pale to dark gray with brown or olive; often mottled. The black post-median line extends from the apex to the inner margin, continuing as the median line on the hindwing. A short line also curves from the costa to the apex of the forewing. The hindwing often has two spots on the faint sub-terminal line. The caterpillar host plants are alfalfa, peanut, soybean, velvetbean, and related plants.
