Moths of this family are medium to small, with a wing span of about 2.2 cm. The head scales are rough. The probosis is small or absent. The labial palps are medium to long, projecting forward and looking beak-like. The wings are moderately long, narrow, and rounded, usually bent slightly downward at the tip. Formerly known as Phaloniidae, this family includes about 110 known North American species.
