Identification: Covell, Moths of Eastern North America, Page 334. Similar to Saddled Prominent, but usually larger with more gray on the forewing (fading to yellowish-brown). The pattern is sharper. The ante-median and post-median lines are double, black, and scalloped, filled with orange. The sub-terminal line is a series of black wedges. The hindwing is gray. Caterpillar host plants are beech, birch, cherry, hickory, maple, and willow.
