Plant is an upright perennial with creeping stems which root at the nodes. Preferred habitat is roadsides, yards and ditches. Distribution is throughout the Escambia region.

Leaves are trifoliate (sets of three); variable size; stipules sheathing the stem. Leaves are decorated with two shades of green.

Flower is a head about one inch in diameter on a stalk about six inches long; usually over-topping the leaves. Color is white (occasionally pink) turning brown with age. Flower standard is larger than the keel and wings. Flowers occur in the summer.

Fruit is a legume.
