Identification: Covell, Moths of Eastern North America, Page 422. The forewing is mottled pale and medium gray, dotted with black-brown shading along the inner margin. There is no sharp pattern. The hindwing is gray. The caterpillar host plant is alder, apple, huckleberry, poison ivy, sumac, and pines.
