Plant is a sprawling perennial. Preferred habitat is prairies, pinelands and edge of salt marshes. Distribution is throughout the Escambia region.
Leaves are alternate on the stem; bipinnately compound. Individual leaflets are linear or lance-like to oblong.
Flowers are heads in the leaf axil; resting on short stalks. Flowers are bisexual; symmetrical in shape. Corolla is five parts; united at the base and yellow with numerous stamens which are also yellow and extending beyond the corolla. Flowers occur in the summer.
Fruit is a legume.
