Yellow Sunflower Moth
Stiria rugifrons
Hodges 11066

Identification: A rather large (3.2-4.2 cm wingspan) bright yellow moth with red-brown markings. The forewings are yellow with a large spot-like basal dash, a large spot midway along the lower margin, and a dark terminal band, all reddish-brown. The hindwings are white, suffused with red-brown scales on the outer half in the males, and over most of the wing in females. The bright yellow color and bold pattern is unlike any other moth.
